Cup Holders

subjectCup Holders

Hello Mr. Glass,

First off, although I was disappointed with our football record, I have seen improvement and support the decision to bring back Coach Lynch. Now to more important issues.

Cup holders. Memorial Stadium does not have them. Memorial Stadium needs them. Twice this year I have had people spill their soda behind me so it ended up dripping down into my area. As a result, my shoes got sticky and I got MAD! I honestly believe the lack of cup holders is causing our team to lose more than it should. Oklahoma State has 3 cup holders for every seat and unfortunately you can see why they had the advantage against us in the Insight Bowl a couple years ago. With a capacity of 52,692, the cup holders should fit nicely within the money received from the Penn State game. It will be much easier for Coach Lynch to recruit star athletes if we had cup holders as many great high school football players tend not to attend schools without them. The new endzone and weight room was a good start, but now it is time to seal the deal with cup holders. It has been said that universities are in an arms race to give them an advantage in signing these players. Let's not fall behind. Also, my sticky shoes also prevented me from making more noise and you know how important crowd noise can be to helping the team win. Let us get cup holders and turn our team into a traditional powerhouse!

Also, I believe if Indiana went to crimson field turf, the football team would have a significant advantage. Studies have shown that Division 1 teams with non-green turf post successful seasons far above the national average. Plus, we would be on telly as much as Boise State. What do you think?

Please let me know what you think of my ideas. As always, GO HOOSIERS!

Sasha, thank you for contacting me with me your views regarding the fan experience at IU football games. I appreciate your idea to add cup holders in Memorial Stadium. We are always working on new ideas to increase attendance and enthusiasm at games and we will take this into consideration as we work hard to support our athletic programs and create the kind of game environment that both our fans and players enjoy. Thank you again for sharing your thoughts with me. We are honored to have people as committed as you among the Hoosier Nation. Go Hoosiers! —Fred Glass

Vandalism

subjectVandalism

Hello Mr. Kannady,

I am writing about a very close friend of mine at Indiana University that has unfortunately been defaced. I am referring to a particular restroom in (it's a secret!) on the (secret!) floor in the (yeah, we don't want you to find out) across from the (confidential!). This is the only public restroom I will use following a harrowing experience in the summer of 2006. This particular restroom has whitewashed walls and a large window so on a nice sunny day the sun just beats in and brightens not only the restroom, but my mood! This restroom is commonly referred to by my friends and me as "heaven". It is everything a restroom should be.

The problem: Someone has written in pen in the stall of this restroom. One of these comments also contains a word that Larry David once spoke in retelling a story that he heard in a restroom (coincidence?!) on Curb Your Enthusiasm. It was referred to him as "the most vile word in the English language". If possible, could these comments be painted over? It saddens me that someone would do that in such a sacred place and I hope you will be able to fix it so I can enjoy this glorious restroom to its full potential!

Hello Sasha,

I received a copy of your email from Gary Chrzastowski last Wednesday regarding the vandalism. We applied a temporary coating that same day to cover the words. The stall was painted last Friday and we confirmed today there is no graffiti in the (can't post it) restroom.

New Schaumburg Restaurant

subjectNew Schaumburg Restaurant

Hello Mr. Fritz,

I am looking to bring to open up a Cajun style restaurant in Schaumburg. I previously owned and operated the restaurant "Ca c'est bon" right outside New Orleans. Have you heard of it? Due to circumstances, I have sold all my interest in that restaurant and am relocating to the Schaumburg area and would like to open a new restaurant. This restaurant will be named "C'est magnifique". I already have enough capital to begin so financing is not an issue. Please give me a call at your earliest convenience to discuss further.

I look forward to hearing from you. Thanks,
Sasha Kaun

Thanks for your interest in Schaumburg. We have several opportunities for
new restaurants listed on our web at:
http://www.villageofschaumburg.com/vos.nsf/schaumburg/MFRK-5CBK4X

The Village of Schaumburg is looking for a nice sit-down restaurant in Town
Square (Schaumburg/Roselle). The parking is already built with a pad that
backs up to an amphitheater and the Library. More info is at:
http://www.villageofschaumburg.com/vos.nsf/schaumburg/EMUR-58PMZ8

There are also a couple of vacant restaurants including the old Zed 451 on
Algonquin and Smokey Bones on Mall Drive.

Mr. Frank,

As I am writing this email, it occurred to me that perhaps it would be best to have a celebrity with a vested interest in the company. The celebrity I have in mind is quarterback Jay Cutler. I know he is very popular in the Chicagoland area as evidenced by the numerous women I know that have made love to him. He is also supposedly from Santa Claus, Indiana. Is that true? Is Santa Claus real?

The name of my new restaurant will now be "Cutler's Cajun!". Do you like this name?

I will be returning to town on Thursday of this week to begin getting started on my restaurant. Please give me a call at your earliest convenience as much issues will need to be discussed.

Thank you and I look forward to hearing from you.

If you could get Cutler to participate, I think it would definitely help
you out as there are many Bears fans in Schaumburg and the area. He is
indeed from Santa Claus, Indiana.

Mr. Frank,

I have arrived in town today. Sorry to have kept you waiting. That is great that Santa Claus is a real place. Now, I can tell my kids that Santa Claus is real and blame him the crappy gifts my children receive.

I think it would be great if I could get Mr. Cutler on board with the restaurant idea. I believe it would help business. Do you know how I can contact him?

Please give me a call when you have a free minute. My number is still the same up here in Chicago.

Thanks and I look forward to hearing from you,

You would need to go through the Chicago Bears or Mr. Cutler's agent to see
if he would be willing to do a restaurant. I don't have that information.

If you give me your phone number, I'd be happy to call you and discuss
opportunities.

Hello Mr. Frank,

I'm bummed about the Olympics. Cutler's Cajun would have been the hit restaurant of the Games.

I am waiting a return call from Mr. Cutler's agency to discuss his involvement with the restaurant. Otherwise I will call my restaurant "C'est magnifique". Do you like this name? I know a lot of people don't like French people or al-Qaeda so maybe call it "C'est magnifique" and below that put "Owned and Operated by an American!". Please let me know what you think.

I understand you were out of the office today so if you could give me a call sometime Monday morning, I'd love to discuss some more details with you.

Thanks,

Mr. Frank,

I haven't received word from you today and I completely understand if you got caught up with work. I just wanted to pass along that I received word from Mr. Jay Cutler's agent that he is not interested at this time in "Cutler's Cajun!" The new tentative name of my restaurant is "C'est magnifique". However, I have contacted Patrick Kane's agent about possibly naming the restaurant "Kane's Cajun!" Patrick Kane is a hockey (a game played on ice in which two opposing teams of skaters, using curved sticks, try to drive a puck into the opponent's goal) player. I just wanted to keep you in the loop.

Please give me a call if you have time before you leave tonight or anytime tomorrow.

Thanks and I look forward to hearing from you.

Mr. Frank,

I have not heard back from Mr. Kane's agent yet. I believe he is playing hockey. However, I have attempted to contact Mr. Bill Cosby about possibly becoming involved in my restaurant. "Cosby's Cajun!" has a great sound to it and everybody loves Bill Cosby. He makes me laugh really hard. I hope one of these two say yes. I'm not sure what will happen if they both want to be involved. Should I name the restaurant "Kane Cosby's Cajun!", "Cosby Kane's Cajun!" or drop one of the two? Who should I tell no? Possibly I could later start a spin-off restaurant using the other person's name, but let's not get ahead of ourselves yet. We still need to get this first restaurant up and running.

Again, please give me a call sometime today or after the weekend on Monday. My cell is always on.

Have a great weekend Matt. I look forward to hearing from you.
